In Finding Winnie, author Lindsay Mattick traces the roots of a classic modern childhood fable to those dangerous years. A Canadian veterinarian brought a bear cub to be his unit's mascot as it joined the conflict in Europe. That bear survived the conflict and lived in a zoo in London where a young boy, Christopher Milne, visited him everyday. The boy's father wove that friendship into the tales of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh.
Sew a lovable bear to be your companion. Explore the places around the Museum where adventures can happen. With the class, construct a house for any lost Eeyores. Play Pooh Sticks on the Museum Bridge. Draw a map. Or make and Eeyore to worry and a Piglet to cheer everyone. A celebration of carefree years.
